Dyson, the tech company that is mainly known for selling Dyson vacuums, finally canceled its electric car project. The projected costed $500 million and they have scrapped the whole project.
In 2016, Dyson started working on its electric car, and the company even bought the startup company Sakti3 for $90 million to make a futuristic battery technology factory.
Dyson stated that they were investing 2.7 billion USD to feature their electric vehicles on the market, which promoted their electric vehicles to carry no solid-state batteries in the vehicles.
The company had over 600 employees working on electric cars, but they announced that they have given up on the project because it won't be commercially suitable. The cost for making the car would have been almost $200,000 a car, which was way out of the budget.
Dyson's founder, James Dyson, revealed the prototype of one of the electric vehicles, called N526. The car seats seven people, has a 600-mile range, weighs 2.6 tons, and runs on aerodynamic performance with an aluminum body. The car's battery would have been large enough to have the vehicles running for a very long time.
