Frequently asked questions about car shipping

A lot of people have general questions about auto transport, that we will answer to make the process of shipping your car easier and faster.

Here are some common questions we have received in the past:

How much is car shipping from state to state?

Car shipping costs depend on several factors, such as the weight and size of the vehicle, shipping method (enclosed, open air, flatbed), and distance between the pickup and drop off points.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery takes around 1 week for transport shipping. Note that transport companies cannot give you an exact date, because there can be some delays based on weather, detours, and traffic.

Will my car be covered by insurance if something happens to it?

Yes. most reputable transport companies will insure your car, because carriers are required to carry liability insurance. This type of insurance will usually cover damages to your car during transport. Even though it will cover most damages caused during shipping, you should find out if you have full coverage.

What is door-to-door shipping and is it expensive?

Door-to-door shipping is a method of shipping where your car will be picked up at your location and dropped off directly to your door. This type of shipping is more expensive than regular shipping, because it is definitely more convenient.

Is there expedited shipping available?

Yes! Some car transport companies will have next day shipping available, and sometimes even same day delivery. This is a method of transport that is not widely available, because the carriers will only have a few spots open on their trucks in one month. Expedited shipping will also add additional costs, but it is very useful for people who need their vehicles right away in another state.

How do I get my car ready for shipping?

In order to ensure a faster and easier checkout process, having your car ready for transport is ideal. You should take photos of your car, especially where there are damages or scratches. This creates proof for you and the transport company, if you suspect your car went through any damages during shipping.

Also, make sure to clean out all areas of your car of belongings. The transport companies will not be responsible for any theft or lost valuables during shipping. The car should also be wiped down with disinfectants to help your carrier be safe.

Can someone else pick up my car at the pickup point?

Yes. However, you should make sure that the person picking up your car is trustworthy. Make sure to let the company know that you are allowing the designated person to pick up your car at the pickup point.
