Hyundai is recalling almost 300,000 cars in the United States because the electrical socket can overheat and cause a fire. The outlets were too tight at the factory, which is a reason for the recall.
The recall includes cars such as the 2011 and 2012 Elantra compact models, Hyundai Sonata, and 2012 Accents. The overheating is caused by an air compressor that is in the socket for a long period of time.
Hyundai had nine reports of fires, but no injuries. The car owners that were using compressors that came with the cars in the seven fires, and the two began where the aftermarket compressors were being used.
