The all-new "touchless delivery" model to transport cars has been adopted by many transport companies and automobile industries. Some companies include Tesla, Carvana, GM, and Super Dispatch transport company.
With the need for social distancing becoming a strict practice for businesses, "touchless delivery" has been a new model to help customers and employees feel safe in a workplace environment.
Tesla
For example, Tesla has worked to increase production of its Model 3 mass market, and they came up with the "sign and drive" practice. Instead of the employees meeting the customer to talk about the car's features, the user will complete the paperwork through videos they will watch. Another way would be to sign through the customer's phone.
Tesla is also creating a fully-autonomous system where the cars can deliver themselves directly to the consumer, driving by itself out of the factory.
This would greatly benefit customers by ensuring a safe socially-distanced delivery of their purchased cars.
Carvana
Furthermore, Carvana is also offering touchless delivery to its customers. They have received 2 Billion USD in funding to support a safer way to buy cars from their company. Their touchless delivery allows customers to get the car they want without coming into contact with a customer advocate who normally delivers the vehicle to their home.
Carvana will increase their technology and change their infrastructure so that everything can be done online and made convenient for its customers.
General Motors
GM has launched an online program called "Shop Click Drive" where the customer does not need to go inside a dealership to purchase a car.
The online tool will allow the customers to choose their vehicle, choose a trim, customizable options, and even handle financing on the local dealer's website.
Super Dispatch
Super Dispatch is a car shipping platform that has led auto transport companies to move onto touchless delivery. In order to ensure a safe working environment for both customers and employees, the platform has been launched to help people during the pandemic.
Super Dispatch connects auto transport industry professionals such as shippers, brokers, and carriers with software to help them move cars faster while managing and growing their businesses.
Touchless delivery will work by using an online app via smartphone, and then the company will complete inspection photos. The driver will select touchless signature for pickup and delivery. The customer will be sent a text message for pickup or delivery contact to sign and submit their signature. The customer will not need to meet the driver for the car.
With this app, customers are able to do everything by app and not physically be at the transport company. The bill of lading will also be processed much faster than normal.
Final Thoughts...
It seems that the pandemic has changed business infrastructures indefinitely. A lot of car companies and car transport companies are adapting new models and finding new ways to conveniently deliver cars in the safest way possible.
